Sliding window systems are widely specified where large opening widths, minimal frame sightlines and horizontal panel movement are required. Their space-efficient operation – panels slide rather than project outward – makes them particularly suited to balconies, corridors, tight external clearances and facades where swing clearance is a constraint. Hunter Windows supplies and installs sliding window systems from the AWS Elevate range, available across multiple series configurations to suit project scale, glazing requirements and performance specification.

Energy Performance & Thermal Ratings

Sliding window systems are WERS rated, providing verified U-value and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) data for use in NCC energy compliance calculations and thermal modelling.

Key energy performance factors for specification:

  • U-value — measures the rate of heat transfer through the window assembly; lower values indicate better thermal insulation
  • SHGC — measures solar heat gain through the glazing; selection depends on climate zone, orientation and shading strategy
  • Glazing selection — performance outcomes vary significantly with glass type; double glazing, low-e coatings and laminated options are available across the range
  • ThermalHEART series — thermally broken aluminium frames reduce heat transfer at the frame, improving overall window U-values for projects with elevated energy performance requirements
